Well I'm hoping if there are more injuries on the WR squad, he can step in. Right now it looks like Hodge, Watkins and Cooks rounding out the WR squad. It seems that 49ers value Cowing more as a returner.

He has the talent to be a speed reciever with his 4.38 speed, but he's not had the confidence of Kyle or Purdy yet. I'm kind of bummed that Cowing wasn't put out there more to showcase his talents. But again, he's a raw but talented player and injuries might give him the opportunity to play and show Kyle what he can do (or not do). I hope he is a diamond in the rough. We'll soon find out with Evan's ribs being day to day.

I don't know if Mike will go in this game and Denver D is legit. My big fear on defense is once again our run D. Denver OL is one of the best in the biz. Bo Nix isn't Matt Stafford but they have weapons around him so if we can't stop their run game it will be tough sledding on defense and vs their D the offense will have to continue to be perfect to try to outscore them.

We will need to win the turnover battle in this one for sure. If Kyle gets us this W this will be a big. They have some excellent coaching on their end as well. Big test and I'm excited to see how we respond even with all the injuries. Denvers biggest injury right now is their 3rd string rookie RB...

We better get the win. With this depleted roster, high probability we get the doors blown out vs Seattle the following week.

Cowing also seems to have a problem keeping his feet. Not sure what is happening, but he slips an awful lot. As a WR, Watkins looks better. But, the lower WR spots require Special Teams work.

Don't disregard the Eagles defense. If I've learned anything in my 70 years of watching football it's not to judge a team off of last weeks or recent performances. The Eagles still have a good D line and they could make life miserable for the Niners and Purdy if they play up to their capability. The Niner O line ha slooked good so far but to be fair they haven't faced good defenses yet. The Rams as I pointed out were missing their 2 best D linemen and the Cards and Dolphins are terrible.

I hear you. I hate any injuries to our starters or backups. But as NY85 says, injuries are a part of football. In our case, we're the highest injured team in all of football. Might as well use it to our advantage.

I like how the 49ers are loading up on young raw talent as backups (Valdez, Kalil Dinkins, James Thompson, Enrique Cruz etc...) versus signing the aging free agent Joey Bosas of the NFL world. (Not that I would mind the signing) but UDFA compromise about a quarter of the NFL. You got a one in four shot at finding a gem if you are willing to take the opportunity to look for them.

Halton is the best DL the 49ers have drafted since Nick Bosa and the best IDL entirely. DJ Jones was a great run stopper, but Halton plays the run and rushes the passer well. His traits give him a high pass rush ceiling.

hell yeah, he's got Hero's stamp of approval. Love how he rushes with his head up in this clip, sees the short dropback, and knows the ball is coming out quick. Showing off the vertical too.

I love how Stout blitzed on that play forcing the OLineman to come off the double team on Halton. It allowed Halton to penetrate and bat the ball down. I tell you, Stout is going to get a lot of sacks this season under Raheem's blitzes!

exactly, and more accurate bc we all know Caleb isn't accurate (among the worst in the league) and has a problem seeing the field and holding the ball too long. So glad teams like the Bears, GB, Pats, Den, Jax and so on think their qb is good.....makes it that much easier to win a SB for us without the whole team being injured.

Watching that game last night is a reminder how cerebral QB play with great playcalling is still a great result.

It's also a reminder why Caleb Williams isn't a top 10 QB YET. If he can keep get to a level where he operates Ben's offense on time, with accuracy and as designed only leaving his special tools for the rare bad calls then he'll be special.
